Insurance survey at SC PDC UGR

June 26-28, 2016 the representatives of Russian Nuclear Insurance Pool held a scheduled internal insurance Survey at the site of stock company Pilot and Demonstration Center for Decommissioning of Uranium-Graphite Nuclear Reactors (hereafter referred to as PDC UGR or the Center).

The team of surveyors assessed insurance risks of PDC UGR site from the point of view of arranging NTPL and possible MB insurance.

Being established only 6 years ago PDC UGR hosted the insurance Survey for the first time.

During the Survey the experts observed activities at the site, interviewed the managers of its subdivisions and specialists-engineers, visited the available key facilities.

This Survey was headed by Mr. A. Nikitin, a representative of RNIP, the team of surveyors also included Mr. Sergey Babenko. Mr. Mikhail Ischenko of SC Atomic Insurance Broker took part in the Survey as an observer.

In the course of the visit the experts took into consideration and discussed the prepared presentations, performed walkdowns/visual inspections of the decommissioned uranium-graphite reactors, procuction facilities of the Center and its territories, structures, radioactive waste storage facilities.

The survey members focused on issues associated with industrial, environmental, nuclear and radiation safety, fire protection, emergency protection, reliability of power supply, working process at the site, etc. The surveyors paid special attention to further improvement of the safety level at the facilities of the Center and to its development.

The RNIP surveyors highly appreciated the assistance and cooperation of the personnel and management of PDC UGR provided during the Survey.
