Pre-visit of Internal Insurance Survey at Angarsk Electrolysis Chemical Complex

April 12-13, 2016 a pre-visit of RANI surveyors Mr.V.Vashchilo and Mr.A.Nikitin to Angarsk Electrolysis Chemical Complex took place. It was mainly aimed at discussing arrangements for upcoming Insurance Survey. The pre-visit coincided with official pre-insurance inspection of Angarsk Electrolysis Chemical Complex held by SC Atomic Insurance broker.

During the visit the surveyors participated in a working meeting with managers and specialists of the Complex, performed walkdown/visual inspection of the sublimate and enrichment processing facilities, visited nuclear materials storage at SC International Uranium Enrichment Center .

RANI surveyors took the opportunity to attend interviews of SC Atomic Insurance Broker with representatives of the Complex on the following:

nuclear and radiation safety, environmental protection, civil liability and emergencies, fire protection, main technological equipment operation.

The facilities are located in Angarsk, situated in the South-West of Irkutsk region in the most populated and economically developed part, in the distance of 46 kilometers from Irkutsk, the regional center, 100-117 kilometers from Baikal lake and 50 kilometers from the airport of Irkutsk. The population of Angarsk is about 240 thousand. Enterprises of chemical, machine-building, oil refinery, construction industries and uranium enrichment facilities are concentrated in Angarsk. The AECC is mainly aimed at conversing and enrichment of uranium products for needs of nuclear industry in Russia and around the world. In this respect AECC provides SC PA Electrochemical Plant, SC Siberian Chemical Combine, SC Urals Electrochemical Combine, SC Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant, SC Machine-Building Plant with natural enriched uranium  - uranium hexafluoride. The storage facility of SC IUEC is also located at the territory of AECC.
