An International Insurance Survey at Novovoronezh NPP-2

An International Insurance Survey at Novovoronezh NPP-2 was held on 22-24 October 2014 to inspect the insured activities of the first-of-a-kind power Units, which are under construction, as well as other facilities of Novovoronezh NPP-2 with reactors VVER-1200 (NPP 2006). The Survey was carried out under the supervision of Sergey Babenko – Technical director of RANI. The Committee included inspectors of the Russian, British and French Insurance Pools, representatives of JSC “Atomenergoproekt” - an engineering company; The General Designer of Novovoronezh NPP-2, representatives of ZAO “Maks” – Insurer, and OJSC “Atomic Insurance Broker”, with attendees from ZAO “Marsh insurance brokers” as observers.

The Survey was mainly aimed at assessing the insurance risk of the installation and construction process at Novovoronezh site, including commissioning, as well as analyzing the readiness of Unit 1 for its first criticality.

The inspectors investigated the reactor compartment, turbine house, main control room, emergency control room, safety systems area, switch gear, training unit, full-task simulator and some other facilities of NPP.

The experts highly appreciated the conditions of the premises and facilities at the site, which are still under construction, and praised the logistical support of the Units and other technical areas of NPP.

Specialists of NPP and representatives of JSC “Atomenergoproekt” provided all necessary support during the Survey.
